On May 31st, 2006 at 2230 hours an officer responded to the 5300 block of Potrero Ave on report of a stolen car. A known suspect took the keys from the victim and drove the car away without permission. Two hours later the car and suspect, Phillip Wayne Davis, a 49 year old El Cerrito resident were located by Richmond PD at 3rd St and Bissell in the car. An El Cerrito officer responded and took custody of Davis and released the car to the victim. Davis was transported to the county jail on charges of Motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

On Wednesday May 31st , 2006 at 2110 hours officers responded to the Albertson’s Store located at 1000 El Cerrito Plaza on report of a shoplifter in custody. Dep Nguyen, a 43 year old Pleasant Hill male was arrested for having taking over $200 worth of cosmetics and placing them in his jacket and leaving without paying. Nguyen has a history of theft convictions. He was booked for theft with priors and transported to the county jail.

On Wednesday, May 31st, 2006 at 0930 hours a traffic officer observed a fire on the BART path and Waldo Ave. Two juveniles were seen leaving the area and were detained. A patrol officer used a fire extinguisher to slow the fire until the fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. One of the two juveniles admitted throwing a cigar butt into the grass prior to the fire. He was a 15 year old male form Richmond. He was booked for arson and released to his group home.

On Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at 1150 hours an officer was dispatched to the Target store at 11450 San Pablo Avenue regarding a reported theft. The officer arrived and conducted an investigation, which led to the arrest of an 11 year old Richmond resident for stealing a portable CD player. The juvenile was booked for burglary and then released to his father.

On Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at 0800 hours a sergeant was enroute to traffic court when he noticed a vehicle that had just been reported as stolen from Richmond, driving in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Hill Street. The sergeant stopped the vehicle and arrested a 13 year old San Pablo resident and a 12 year old Richmond resident. The 13 year old was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of cocaine. The 12 year old was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle. The juveniles were released to their parents.

On Monday, May 29, 2006, at 2130 hours officers attempted to stop a bicyclist at Waldo Avenue and Kearney Street regarding an El Cerrito Municipal Code violation. The bicyclist dumped the bicycle and then fled on foot. The officers pursued the bicyclist and took him into custody during a yard by yard search in the 800 block of Kearney Street. The bicyclist was identified as 21 year old Berkeley resident, Michael Ward. The officers determined that Ward was on parole. Ward was booked for resisting arrest and a parole violation. Ward was sent to the county jail.

On Monday, May 29, 2006, at 1603 hours officers were dispatched to the Target store located at 11450 San Pablo Avenue, regarding a theft. The officers arrived and conducted an investigation, which led to the arrest of 41 year old Richmond resident, Charmaine Malone for stealing shoes jewelry and some makeup. Malone was booked for petty theft with priors and was sent to the county jail.

On Monday, May 29, 2006, at 1107 hours officers were dispatched to the Target store at 11450 San Pablo Avenue regarding a reported theft. The officers conducted an investigation, which led to the arrest of 51 year old Richmond resident, Gloria Wilhelm for stealing clothing. Wilhelm was booked for petty theft with priors and then cited.

On Monday May 28, 2007 at about 8:17 pm Officer Wahrlich arrested a 17 year old male resident of Richmond for an outstanding Ramey warrant obtained during a vehicle theft investigation from 2006. He was transported to Juvenile Hall pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney’s Office.

On Sunday, May 28, 2006, at 1953 hours officers were conducting an investigation at the Target store located at 11450 San Pablo Avenue, when they were alerted to an un-related theft in progress. They conducted a second investigation, which led to the arrest of 48 year old San Pablo resident, Peter Harrison. It was determined that Harrison is currently on parole. Harrison was booked for possession of a deadly weapon, possession of cocaine, possession of stolen property, identity theft, a felony warrant and a parole violation. Harrison was sent to the county jail.

On Sunday, May 28, 2006, at 1457 hours officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 7200 block of Mound Avenue. Officers conducted an investigation and then arrested 18 year old Richmond resident, Porshia Nelson for making deadly threats. Nelson was booked and then sent to the county jail.

On Sunday, May 28, 2006, at 0110 hours officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of San Pablo Avenue. The stop was made for a Vehicle Code violation. The officers conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of 30 year old Alameda resident, Kamesha Perry for driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, driving on a suspended license and possession of stolen property. The passenger, 28 year old Oakland resident Samantha Araujo was arrested for possession of stolen property and false impersonation. Perry and Araujo were booked and then sent to the county jail.

On Thursday, May 25th, 2006 at 1155 hours an officer contacted and arrested Jack Jefferson , a 47 year old El Cerrito resident at his home for an outstanding warrant. The warrant was for a violation of his probation stemming form an El Cerrito arrest in January as part of a forgery investigation. Jefferson is not facing any new charges form this arrest. He was sent to the county jail.

On Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006 at 2245 hours officers responded to the Baskin robins ice cream store, located at 10598 San Pablo Ave on report of a man Exposing himself to an employee of the store. Officers located Khalid Lundberg, a 21 year old Berkeley male a block away from the store. The victim identified him as the suspect. Lundberg had tapped on a window to draw attention to himself and the victim saw him with his pants down to his thighs while he masterbated. He left and then returned to repeat the act several minutes later. The victim then called the police. Lundberg was transported to the county jail and faces two counts of indecent exposure.

On Tuesday. May 23rd, 2006 at 1240 hours a school resource officer was notified of a student reporting his backpack having been stolen. A teacher witnessed two other students searching through the backpack in a classroom. The two students, 14 and 16 year olds from Richmond, were contacted and admitted to taking the backpack and searching through it for property to take. The students were arrested for possession of stolen property and released to their parents. The case will be forwarded to the juvenile probation department fro disposition.

On Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006 at 1500 hours an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for several vehicle code violations at 11555 San Pablo Ave. The driver, Lee Crippen III, a 41 year old Richmond resident exhibited signs of being under the influence of a drug. A search of the truck located glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine. A search of Crippen’s person located approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine. Crippen was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. After booking, he was released pending the results of lab tests.

On Thursday, June 1st, 2006 Detectives contacted and arrested Anthony Hughes, a 23 year old Richmond resident for embezzlement. Hughes had been a reported suspect in the theft of a cash deposit from the Orchard Supply Hardware store located at 1751 Eastshore Blvd. where he had worked on April 21st. Hughes was booked, and then released on a citation.

On Sunday, May 21st, 2006 at 1725 hours officers responded to the target Store located at 11450 San Pablo Ave on report of a shop lifter in custody. Crystal Ajorgbor, a 46 year old Oakland resident had selected $240 worth of perfume and left the store without paying. Upon booking Ajorgbor it was found that she had previous convictions for theft and she was booked for theft with priors at the county jail.

On Saturday, May 20th, 2006 at 1325 hours, officers responded to the Target store located at 11450 San Pablo Ave. on report of a shoplifter in custody. Porfirio Cousin, a 37 year old San Francisco resident had cut open a PSP memory card pack and left the store without paying for the item. He was found to be on probation for theft and had tools used to open the packages. He was booked a charge of burglary and transported to the County Jail.

On Saturday, May 20th, 2006 at 0730 hours officers responded to the 5300 block of Cypress Ave. on report of a fight. Officers contacted an elderly victim and a 17 year old juvenile girl regarding the altercation. The juvenile, in response to what she felt were old-fashioned rules, threatened the elderly woman with a kitchen knife. No one was injured. The juvenile was arrested and transported to the juvenile hall.

Report no.06-08512

On Thursday, may 18th, 2006 at 2040 hours a 17 year old male el Cerrito High School student from Richmond was walking on the BART path between Stockton Ave and Waldo Ave when he was confronted by two 17 year old males and an 18 year old male, all from Richmond. One on of the 17 year olds blocked the path of the victim by stretching out his arms. He told the victim to get on the ground before he got shot. The victim complied and the suspects demanded money. The victim gave the suspects items from his pocket but not, money. The suspects were disappointed with the lack of cash and walked away allowing the victim to collect his belongings. No gun was seen during the robbery.

An officer checked the area and located the three suspects on a bench at the BART Path and Lincoln Ave. and detained them there. The victim was able to identify the three as the suspects and they were taken into custody.

The two 17 year olds were released into their parent’s custody and the 18 year old was released when it was determined that he had not participated in the robbery.

On Tuesday, May 16th, 2006 at 2325 hours officers responded to an apartment in the 500 block of Oak St. on report of a burglary in progress. Officers arrived to find that a known suspect, Nicolas Guevara, a 23 year old San Pablo resident had broken a window to the apartment in an attempt to gain entry. He had made threats to the family inside. One of the residents had sustained a minor cut from the broken glass while trying to keep Guevara out of the apartment. Guevara had fled the scene prior to the arrival of the officers.

Guevara had on a previous occasion poured gasoline on a car belonging to the residents, and threatened to light it on fire.

Guevara was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 without incident. He was booked into the county jail.

On Monday, May 15th, 2006 at 1730 hours officers responded to the Marshall’s store, located at 10794 San Pablo Ave on report of a possible theft in progress. Upon the arrival of the officers Two suspects were detained as they left the store. A third suspect was located inside the store. Two female juveniles, both 16 years old form Oakland were arrested outside the store. Shawanda Johnson, a 20 year old Oakland resident was arrested inside the store. She had provided a false name when contacted and was found to have a warrant for her arrest as well. The two juveniles and Johnson had all been collecting various clothing items and removing the security tags before leaving the store. The three were booked on charges of burglary and conspiracy. The juveniles were released to a parent and Johnson was transported to the county jail.

On Sunday, May 14th, 2006 at 0240 hours an officer stopped a vehicle for making an illegal turn at Cutting and San Pablo Ave. The driver, Luis Sandoval, a 26 year old Richmond resident was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Sandoval was found to have two loaded magazines of ammunition for a handgun in his pocket. A search of the vehicle located a loaded 9mm pistol under the driver’s seat. The serial number had been removed from the gun. Sandoval is a known gang member and has previous weapons arrests. Sandoval was transported to the county jail and is facing felony charges of removing the serial number from a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and several misdemeanor charges.

On Saturday, May 13th, 2006 at 2310 hours an officer saw Marjorie Steward, a 41 year old Richmond resident enter the Terrace Motel parking lot. The officer was able to determine that she had an active arrest warrant for theft. During the arrest for the warrant, a probation search was conducted of her motel room. The search located a small quantity of crack cocaine. An additional occupant of the room, Chaz Green, a 37 year old Richmond resident was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Both Green and Steward were transported to the county jail.

On Saturday, May 13th, 2006 at 1410 hours officers responded to the Atlas Liquors store, located at 11382 San Pablo Ave. on report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. Roger Moss, a 46 year old Oakland resident had taken two cans of beer and hidden them in his pants while paying for a third beer. He left he store without paying for the two hidden cans. Customers of the store notified the owner that the theft had occurred. A review of a surveillance tape confirmed the theft. Moss was booked for theft and found to have several prior convictions of theft. He was transported to the county jail.

On Thursday, May 11th, 2006 at 1310 hours an officer responded to the Portola Middle School located at 1021 Navellier Street on report of a student with drugs. The principal acting on information of several students selling drugs on campus contacted several students regarding the accusations. One student was found to have five baggies of marijuana on his person and cash consistent with drug sales. The student, a 14 year old Richmond resident was booked on possession of marijuana for sales and released to his parent. The case will be forwarded to the juvenile probation department for disposition.

On Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 at 1555 hours, officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred in the 400 block of Colusa Ave above the El Cerrito High School Football field. An 86 year old man was approached from the rear and struck in the side of the face. A second subject picked up the victim’s hat that had fallen off during the attack and handed it back to him. As the victim took the hat back the second suspect then tried to reach into the man’s pocket and take his wallet. Both subjects fled when a witness approached to give aid.

Rickey Pickens, a 21 year old male from both Nevada and San Pablo was found in the football field and detained as he tried to climb a barb wired fence. A witness identified him as the secondary suspect. Pickens was booked for attempted robbery and transported to the county jail.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment as a precaution.

On Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 at 1320 hours officers responded to the Bank of America on report of a forgery in progress. Officers detained Alonzo Hill, a 25 year old Oakland man as he left the bank for passing a stolen/altered check. The check had been stolen from the mail earlier in the day in Castro Valley. The suspect had simply traced over the name to change it to his name. Hill was transported to the county jail on forgery charges.

On Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 at 1105 hours officers responded to a residence in the 6400 block of Hagen Blvd on report a Civil Problem. While on the way to the residence an officer contacted Sean Sutton, a 27 year old Homeless man pushing a bicycle as a possible related person to the call. Sutton was found to be in possession of a homemade knife made from half of a garden shear. He was also found to be in possession of several tablets of Oxycontin, a controlled substance. Sutton was transported to the county jail.

On Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 at 0025 hours an officer observed an occupied Honda Accord parked in front of a house in the 1000 block of Richmond St. with its lights off. When he illuminated the car with his spot light it moved forward about 30 feet before stopping. As he contacted the driver, a 17 year old Oakland female he was notified the car was reported stolen out of Oakland. The officer had seen a Hispanic male approximately 20 years old standing next to another Honda Accord that fled through a back yard when he contacted the car. It was later found that the male suspect had dropped a screwdriver, a knife and several shaved keys. All tools used to steal cars. The juvenile was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and released to her parent.

On Tuesday, May 9th, 2006 at 1515 hours officers responded to the Target Store located at 11450 San Pablo Ave. on report of a shoplifter in custody. James Candley, a 47 year old Oakland male was arrested after he placed $190 worth of batteries into a duffle bag he had brought in order to steal the batteries. He had intended to sell the batteries on the street in order to buy food. He also had a warrant for his arrest from Oakland PD on drug possession charges. Candley was booked for burglary and transported to the county jail.

On Monday, May 8th, 2006 at 2040 hours officers observed a man running from the front of the Orchard Supply Hardware Store located at 1751 Eastshore Blvd towards the rear of the business. Upon detaining the man he was found to be in possession of over 50 packs of batteries from the OSH store. Employees confirmed that he had purchased nothing and had been seen crouching next to the now empty battery display. The man was identified as Darrell Williams, a 46 year old Richmond resident. He was found to be on parole and was arrested for burglary, theft with priors and possession of drug paraphernalia. Williams was transported to the county jail.

On Friday, May 5th, 2006 at 2328 hours an officer stopped a vehicle at San Pablo Avenue and Portola Drive for a vehicle code violation. During the stop the driver of the car provided a false name and smelled of alcohol. An investigation into the impairment of the driver and the driver’s identity led to the discovery that the car had been stolen in Richmond earlier in the evening. The owner of the car was waiting for an officer to arrive to make the report. The driver of the car was identified a Hasani Banks, a 34 year old female from Sacramento. She was booked on charges of motor vehicle theft, being under the influence of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license, and providing false information. She was transported to the county jail.

On Friday, May 5th, 2006 at 2140 hours, officers responded to the Target Store located at 11450 San Pablo Ave. on report of a Forgery that had just occurred. Officers detained the two suspects at the Del Norte BART Station as they fled the area. Darnell Stevenson, a 44 year old Oakland resident and Tracy Bell, a 38 year old Oakland resident were arrested on charges of Forgery, False Personation of another to obtain money, and Burglary. Stevenson had used the credit card of an acquaintance having taken the card form him the night before. Stevenson and Bell had been trying to purchase various items of clothing and gift cards. Stevenson and Bell were both transported to the county jail pending review by the District Attorney’s office.

On Friday, May 5th, 2006 at 1355 hours officers responded to the 600 block of Lexington Ave on report of a residential burglary in progress. Neighbors had noticed two suspects on the side yard of the victim house and knew the owners were not at home. They called the police when one suspect went to the rear of the house and the other stayed in front of the house. Officers stopped the two suspects a block from the residence. They were positively identified as the suspects by witnesses. The rear window of the house was found broken out. Jonathan Jefferson, a 19 year old Richmond resident and a 16 year old Richmond resident were both placed under arrest for attempted burglary. There was no apparent property loss, only the cost to repair the window. Jefferson was transported to the county jail and the juvenile was transported to the juvenile hall.

On Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 2001 hours officers were dispatched to the Target store located at 11450 San Pablo Avenue regarding a shoplifter in custody. On Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 1625 hours officers were dispatched to a forgery in progress at the Well Fargo Bank located at 9800 San Pablo Avenue. Officers arrived and determined that Connie Taylor, a 45 year old Vacaville resident was trying to cash a stolen check. Taylor was into custody and then booked. Taylor was transported to the county jail.

On Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 1550 hours officers responded to the Barnes and Noble bookstore located at 6060 El Cerrito Plaza on the report of a shoplifter in custody. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation. They learned that Brandy Pendarvis, a 33 year old Oakland resident had been placed under citizen’s arrest for taking several boxed sets of DVDs. Officers learned that Pendarvis had prior theft convictions. Pendarvis was booked for petty theft with priors and then sent to county jail.

On Thursday, May 4th, 2006 at 1010 hours the school resource officer at El Cerrito High School was summoned to the P.E. Room due to a fight that had occurred. A 15 year old student from Richmond had been beaten and kicked by a group of up to four other students in the locker room. The victim had sustained a bloody lip and head pain. Three of the suspect students were identified immediately and arrested. The fourth student remains un-identified at this time.

The suspect students were two 15 year old students and a 14 year old, all from Richmond. All individuals involved in the incident were of the same ethnic background. There was no apparent motive for the attack. The two 15 year old suspects were transported to the juvenile hall on charges of Assault with a deadly weapon. The 14 year old was released to a parent. The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Department for review.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 0710 hours officers were dispatched to the Safeway store at 10636 San Pablo Avenue regarding a theft that had just occurred. After an area check, Reginald Moon, a 44 year old San Pablo resident was taken into custody. During the investigation, officers determined that Moon had also committed a theft at the Long’s Drugs store located at 10650 San Pablo Avenue. Officers recovered batteries that were stolen at Long’s. Moon was booked for petty theft with priors and then sent to the county jail.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 0710 hours officers were dispatched to the Safeway store located at 10636 San Pablo Avenue regarding a theft that had just occurred. Officers arrived and determined that the suspect, later identified as Reginald Moon, a 44 year old San Pablo resident had attempted to steal meat and had fled on foot after a struggle with store employees. Officers checked the area and located Moon nearby. Moon was taken into custody without further incident. Officers determined that Moon had prior thefts. Moon was booked for petty theft with priors and then transported to county jail.

On Monday, May 1, 2006, at 1850 hours officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Lexington Avenue regarding a disturbance. They conducted an investigation and then took Phyllis Waukazoo, a 35 year old El Cerrito resident into custody for assault. Waukazoo was booked and then sent to the county jail.
